Shiney Ahuja was sentenced to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment by a fast track sessions court here for raping his maid despite the victim turning hostile during the trial. Clad in pink shirt and jeans, 38-year-old Shiney was accompanied by his wife Anupam in the court when the judgement was delivered.

According to a policeman, there were tears in his eyes when the judge pronounced the order and was consoled by his family.

The court did not accept the maid’s evidence in the court that she was not raped as the judge felt that she had given false evidence.

In September last year, the maid had backtracked from her allegations that Shiney had raped her at his residence in Mumbai and said the incident had never occurred.

The 20-year-old girl told the court that she had filed the complaint against the actor at the behest of the woman who had secured her the job of a maid in Shiney’s residence.

Earlier, in June 2009, the girl had lodged a police complaint alleging that she was raped by the actor at his residence. Shiney was arrested on June 14 and released on bail three months later.

On September 3 last year, the victim had identified Shiney in the court and said she used to work at his residence as a domestic help. But when asked about the incident, she said she was never raped.

Following this, the court had declared her hostile. The police, in a 109-page chargesheet, had charged Shiney with rape and wrongfully confining the victim.

Shiney, in his defence, had argued that he was falsely implicated.

It is believed that the couple Dance India Dance host Jay Bhanushali got secretly married to his sweetheart, Mahhi Vij, who plays Nakusha in Laagi Tujhse Lagan. They are living together in a rented apartment in suburban Mumbai. Jay and Mahhi exchanged rings at a private ceremony a few months ago. It’s not easy for an couple to get an accommodation in Mumbai, so they apparently provided marriage proof to the owner. That’s how their secret got out.
Now they will get married in a lavish manner for the sake of their family and friends. Only close friends are aware of their marriage, says a co-actor on condition of anonymity. Sources close to them inform they will tie the knot once they manage to squeeze out some time from their tight schedules later this year.

Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor, who broke up in the first week of February and had not been seen together for almost two months, went on a bike ride together last Thursday night.

It would have been difficult…much better to watch it at home,” said Shah Rukh while talking to reporters while wearing an Indian jersey.

The 45-year-old bollywood superstar was happy to get so many eyeballs for the first look of Ra.One, whose trailer was released during the match.

“I think the whole world is watching the match today. I am happy to show the trailer when so many people were watching. The film will release in October and it is too early to speak but it is a superhero film, lots of special effects and a new step forward in our technology. I think children will love it,” he added

The American politician and commentator, Palin was impressed with Sonakshi’s speech on stage at an event held recently in New Delhi.

Talking to a daily, a source present at the event revealed, “Sarah seemed impressed by Sonakshi. Both ladies chatted about women empowerment and how it can change the world. Palin was also speaking on how it was high time that women should take the forefront in terms of making fundamental changes in the system, be it the political or in any other field.”

However, Palin who had not watched the young actress perform in her debut film, the politician was awestruck to learn that Sonakshi had a huge fan following so early in her career.

“Though Sarah admitted that she hadn’t watched her film, she was reportedly taken by surprise at the actress` popularity. Sonakshi too added that she wants to do her bit in creating awareness amongst the masses, especially with regards to education and women’s health-related issues,” added the source.

Moreover, Palin was also surprised to see the newbie’s inclination towards social responsibilities, especially the emancipation of women in the sub-continent.
